Today I found out that one of my favorite characters on TV also played guitar on one of my all time favorite songs.

John Frusciante has a new album coming out on January 20th called The Empyrean! He also has a new blog at frusciante.com. Frusciante might be my favorite musician. The albums he released from “Shadows collide with People” to “Curtains” were absolutely amazing and highly anticipated by me and my roomates at the time. Needless to say, I’m incredibly excited for this new album! Here’s a song from “Curtains” which is probably my favorite album at this point in my life.

Today at work, I listened to Iron & Wine’s newest album and I really liked the way it sounded on my headphones. I’m a big fan of “Our Endless Numbered Days” which is very melodic and soft. “The Shepherd’s Dog” seems to be more upbeat, but still has the softness of Sam Beam’s voice…I really like the jams I heard on this….very mellow and smooth…
I highly recommend “Sodom South Georgia” from the previous album…Very poetic and powerful especially if you’re religious.

Some of my favorite musical performances are singer/songwriters in small audiences talking to the crowd in between songs. My friend told me about a Neil Young performance that was on VH1 classic, and I had to see it! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the last two songs on youtube, but the first 6 are great!
Out on the weekend
Old Man
Journey through the Past & Heart of Gold
Don’t Let it bring you down
A man needs a maid

So I got my new copy of “La Cucaracha” today….Definitely a solid album. So far “The Fruit Man”, “Woman and Man”, and “Your Party” stand out as some quality songs. Listening to the album made me think if I could rank my favorite Ween songs….So I’m sorta thinking this
1. Baby Bitch
2. Tear For Eddie
3. Gabriel
3. Roses are Free
4. The Argus
5. Its Gonna be alright
6. Take Me Away
7. Voodoo Lady
8. The mollusk
9. Captain
10. Did you see me
Honorable Mention For the ones below that could easily get swapped in and out of my top 10 :
“Booze Me up and Get Me High”, “Buenos Tardes Amigo”, “Stay Forever”, “What Deener was Talking about”, “Blarney Stone”, “Buckingham Green”, “Piss up a Rope”, “I Don’t Want It”

This is the type of song that makes me want to learn to play guitar…

So I’m still learning about this blogging stuff….and I decided to post one of my favorite music videos as somewhat of a test.
